Abstract: |
The assessment concluded that there was a modest potential for artefactual evidence for the Neolithic-Bronze Age. The study site was thought to have been in open fields adjacent to The Kings Highway during the medieval period and localised gravel digging and rubbish dumping was suggested. The site was in an area associated with the Lambeth Pottery industry during the post-medieval period. Although the origins of this industry in the 1680's appeared to have been centred some distance to the south, pottery wasters from nearby kilns could be anticipated and the site itself was involved in pottery production from the 1880's until the 1940's. A high potential, particularly for artefacts and deposits associated with the 19th and 20th century Lambeth Pottery Industry was therefore identified. [Au(adp)] |
