Abstract: |
An archaeological field evaluation consisting of eight trial pits, two being of archaeological interest, was completed. Trench 1A produced a vertical timber set into the river bed, there were no tool marks present, the wood could have formed a mooring post or be part of a larger structure. Trench 3B produced a layer of burnt clay directly below the topsoil which could have been associated with Roman salt production sites which had been found elsewhere in the area. The impact of works was viewed as of minor adverse significance. [Au(adp)] |
