Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was carried out at the site to accompany a resubmission of refused planning application. The assessment concluded that the site was not developed until the middle of the 19th century, and that development of the site was part of the massive urban expansion of Kate's Hill which until that point was only a small hamlet. The malthouse and the adjacent residential property of 15 Caroline Street were likely to have been built between 1850 and 1864. The walkover survey confirmed the location of the buildings.
