Abstract: |
An archaeological impact assessment of the proposed flood alleviation works along a tributary of Cossington Brook indicated that the works may have an impact on archaeological sites. Further field trials were suggested to assess the likely affect of the flood water storage areas on potential surviving archaeological remains. Control and supervision of groundworks was recommended for the remaining areas in view of the potential for the survival of organic remains within palaeochannels, prehistoric remains and evidence for the early development of the village of Cossington.
