Abstract: |
A desk-based study of land lying in the north-west corner of the Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society Showground, proposed for a hotel, leisure and conference facility development, identified a post-medieval pump as being the only direct evidence of archaeological interest within the proposal area, although a number of neighbouring cropmarks and surface scatters east and west of the Roman Fosse Way, and dating to anywhere between the later prehistoric and Civil War periods were identified.
