Abstract: |
Whilst there was no direct evidence for the existence of archaeological remains within the development area, the circumstantial evidence was suffficient to assign it a high archaeological potential. Salient points arising from the data were: the proximity of All Saints Parish Church, a Norman foundation; finds of Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman, possible Anglo-Saxon and Saxo-Norman material within 400m of the development area; and the inclusion of Pickwell in the Domesday Book, indicating settlement in the Late Anglo-Saxon period. Further evaluation by means of trial trenches was recommended. [Au(adp)] |
