Abstract: |
During the restoration of Old Abbey Farm a considerable number of architectural fragments were unearthed or were collected from around the site. The house was located directly to the south of the site of Kirkstead Abbey, a Cistercian house founded in 1139 from Fountains Abbey. The remains were important for the evidence they provided for the development of the Early Gothic style in the northern region. [Au(adp)] |
