Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out on a number of drainage trenches dug in the basement of 6-7 Old Palace Yard during refurbishment. The site was located within the former precinct of the Palace of Westminster. Immediately to the south of the site was the Jewel Tower built in 1365. Medieval garden soil from the Jewel Tower garden was noted, sealed by levelling dumps and a seventeenth century building. A series of floors and occupation deposits within the building were recorded. A medieval wall was also recorded, possibly forming the south -east corner to a building. [Au(abr)] |
