Abstract: |
An initial visit and subsequent survey was carried out on the remains of three carved built wooden vessels on the foreshore of the Humber, adjacent to the site of the former Earles shipyard. The result of this was that two of the wrecks were identified as being Humber Keels, one a substantial bow section and the other a stern to midships section. The third wreck was probably that of a sloop or yawl, but this remained uncertain at the moment. All of the vessels were of 19th century origin and, although currently in good condition, they were showing clear signs of decay and vandalism. [Au] |
