Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken on electricity ducting work. The excavations were divided into four zones. Only in one zone in the Market Place was any archaeological evidence observed. Here, there were indications of medieval occupation and post-medieval demolition. The site of the watching brief was within the former precinct of the Benedictine Abbey, and it is possible that the wall found is part of the gatehouse. [AIP] |
