Abstract: |
The assessment was undertaken in response to a condition upon planning permission for a new residential care facility for senior citizens. The site's archaeological potential for the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic, Iron Age and Roman periods was believed to be low. The study sites archaeological potential for the Bronze Age was believed to be moderate to good. The sites archaeological potential for the Saxon/early medieval period was thought to be moderate. The northern half of the study site was thought to have a good archaeological potential for the late medieval and post-medieval periods. The southern half of the study site was thought to have a low archaeological potential for these periods. Past development of the study site was likely to have had a severe but localised archaeological impact. Although archaeological remains would have been truncated across parts of the site, such remains were unlikely to have been completely removed. [Au(adp)] |
