Abstract: |
<summary>A programme of archaeological field survey and rescue excavation was undertaken during the construction of a water-main between Aysgarth and Hawes. This work followed initial fieldwalking. 29 sites had been identified, seven of which were considered to be of sufficient significance to warrant alteration to the proposed route, although for a number of these sites further earthwork or geophysical work was required to ascertain the level of alteration necessary. For the remaining sites, the supervised removal of topsoil, followed by the investigation and recording of any archaeological features revealed, was considered an adequate response. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea} |
