Abstract:
Following a field evaluation an archaeological watching brief was undertaken during construction work with the objective of clarifying the extent and character of Roman deposits within the north-east part of the site and recovering further artefactual material. Generally, groundworks appeared to have taken pace in horizons that had previously been disturbed, though some deeper trenches cut down as far as a major peat layer known to exist beneath the site. No further Roman deposits were observed. [Au]
