Abstract: |
An evaluation on land proposed for residential development established that there was a concentration of well preserved archaeological features in the west of the site. Earthworks of the Shrunken Medieval Village of Crick were visible within the development area. Structures and drainage/boundary features associated with a medieval street postulated by the RCHME (1981) were exposed. The trenches to the east of the site proved to be archaeologically sterile apart from ridge and furrow, and three sherds of pottery. Recovered pottery suggested that there was certainly activity in the west of the site during the 13th and 14th centuries, and a sherd of St Neots ware was indicative of Late Saxon activity in the vicinity.
