Abstract: |
<summary>The survival of archaeological deposits across the site varied greatly. Much of the city wall had been removed in the past, however, some remnants were noted. Waterlain deposits as a ditch-fill were sampled for environmental evidence - they were thought to date from Roman or medieval times; unfortunately, no datable artefacts were recovered. Features such as a post-medieval defensive ditch and rubbish pits, representing later activity, were also recorded. The history as regards defence of the area was already known, so it was considered that the environmental evidence was the most important. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea} |
