Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at a proposed development site. Finds of palaeolithic to neolithic date had been recorded in an Archaeological Priority Area close to the site, and the projected line of a Roman road passed nearby. Medieval settlement in the area was documented. During the evaluation, a medieval ditch and a 17th-18th century well were revealed. A 16th-17th century yard, overlain by a later metalled surface, was recorded. A sherd of 13th-14th century pottery and a number of 16th-17th century sherds were recovered. It was concluded that no further work would be necessary. [AIP] |
