Abstract: |
The archaeological recording and monitoring of the machine excavation of a series of foundation pits was carried out on land which fell within an area of known Romano-British activity. A range of pits, two linear features and a possible foundation trench were revealed. Finds of 1st and 2nd century AD date were recovered from three of the features and it was likely that they were all broadly contemporary. The features and finds were indicative of domestic activity. The high density of features supported the view that there was widespread and intense occupation throughout the 'Wiggonholtn peninsula' during the Romano-British period. [Au(abr)] |
