Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of the site of a building proposed for basement refurbishment was undertaken. The site lay at the edge of one of several Roman cemeteries in the vicinity. During excavation at one, at least 127 burials were recorded; late bronze age pottery, medieval occupation evidence and post-medieval buildings had also been revealed. Roman pits and buildings had been found nearby. It was concluded that an evaluation should be carried out. [AIP] |
