Abstract: |
The site lay in an area known to have archaeological potential. As the site was situated upon river terraced gravels and close to a reliable water source, it had the potential for the existence of prehistoric remains. Furthermore the site experienced development during the later post-medieval period, with the construction of the workhouse, which later was replaced by the therapy centre. Therefore it was recommended that any further archaeological work be undertaken as an appropriately worded condition to planning consent. [Au(abr)] |
