Abstract: |
The limited size excavated to provide six rising bollards in the forecourt and drive restricted the conclusions drawn from them. Moderate quantities of Roman material suggested that much of the soil on this hill slope had been redeposited at some time. There was a lack of pits and post holes the stratigraphy mainly dump layers. Both holes on the south side produced chalk walls. The most westerly was a substantial feature with faced blocks on the outside edges with chalk rubble in between. [Au(abr)] |
