Abstract: |
<summary>Fieldwalking and environmental sampling were undertaken as part of a preliminary archaeological investigation to evaluate the implications of the proposed improvement of the A303 from Stonehenge Down to Parsonage Down. Worked flint concentrations were recorded, within each of which small clusters of retouched forms were noted. The flint was predominantly Bronze Age in character, although some Neolithic material was also present. A concentration of Late Roman pottery and burnt flint was also identified, and a scatter of Late Bronze Age pottery found. Environmental sampling identified a shallow colluvial sequence at the eastern side of the River Till valley, from which a single sherd of Anglo-Saxon pottery and an animal bone were recovered. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
