Abstract: |
<summary>Test-pits were observed prior to the reduction of a floor level, in order to ascertain likely damage to any archaeology present. Only one feature was observed, a post-medieval soak-away or makeshift urinal. A fair amount of archaeology had been truncated by the basements of the standing building when it was first built, and there could well have been archaeological deposits elsewhere on the site. It was stated that it was preferable that archaeology should be preserved {italon}in situ{italoff}, but that if this was impossible adequate provision for preservation by record should be made. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea} |
