Abstract: |
<summary>Three trenches were excavated in advance of proposed development. Three main features were identified in the excavation. Two of these, a cobbled trackway and a boundary wall, corresponded with features visible on a map dated 1789. The third feature consisted of a building constructed with sandstone and cobble foundations and with clear evidence of a threshold, and a pivot stone. A single sherd of medieval pottery was found in a layer above the building. The fact that the building does not appear on the 1789 map suggests that it had fallen out of use by this time. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
