Abstract:
Evaluation trenches located modern drains and soakaways to the north of the Manor, with a small drainage channel containing medieval and post-medieval pottery and also a stone built culvert, partially destroyed by subsequent levelling and surfacing of the driveway. Remnants of a boundary wall, parallel to Main Street, were located: dating was provisionally allocated to the 18th to 19th centuries. Previously vandalised garden features of mortared stone of probably 19th century date were located to the west of the Manor House. The northern boundary wall onto Church Lane had been breached at an earlier date: the foundations had survived and were recorded together with the ad hoc gateposts. [Au(adp)]
