Abstract: |
The location of the site, and its proximity to findspots of prehistoric stone tools and Bronze Age metalwork raised the potential for a prehistoric settlement nearby. The construction of the Grosvenor Canal and channels for an 18th century waterworks would have destroyed archaeological deposits in their immediate vicinity, but this did not necessarily imply that all archaeologically relevant levels had been removed across the whole of the site. Further archaeological work in the form of a field evaluation was recommended. [AIP] |
