Abstract: |
A non-intrusive archaeological evaluation was undertaken of the site during the development of a junction improvement. It identified a series of ditched enclosures to the east but immediately adjacent to the A1. Geophysical survey suggested a number of these contained pits and roundhouses. Their typological form suggested that they were likely to be Iron Age or Roman in date. The field artefact collection did not provide a date for the enclosures or locate activity areas. The quantity and distribution of medieval pottery suggested that this may have been associated with the settlements believed to be located to the south-east of the study area. [Au(adp)] |
