Abstract: |
A desktop assessment was undertaken as part of an Environmental Impact assessment of the site prior to its redevelopment. Using documentary and cartographic sources, together with a field identification survey it highlighted the archaeological resources within and around the study area at Halton Moass, east of Manor Park. No prehistoric evidence was detected, but this did not rule out the existence of sub-surface remains. In general, the identified archaeological material was of local importance, comprising typical examples of medieval through to post-medieval agricultural features. The archaeological remains relating to 18th to 19th century transport development were more significance but these were situated outside of the confines of the 20ha proposed development area.
