Abstract: |
A field evaluation was carried out in advance of the proposed demolition of the existing building and construction of a residential care home. No archaeological deposits were seen within the footprint of the development during the evaluation works. It seemed certain that levelling during the construction of the Collingwood Arms in the 1930s, had lowered the site to below the level of the surface of subsoil and had removed any positive archaeological deposits. It was recommended that no further archaeological input would be required during the proposed development. [Au(adp)] |
