Abstract: |
The archaeological evaluation uncovered deposits of 18th/19th century date, including clinker, part of which may have been associated with the former smithy. These deposits sealed an 18th/19th century cultivation soil. A small pit and ditch both contained coarseware dating from 1200-1500. A residual flint core was also recovered from the pit fill, and the ditch was probably associated with a boundary dividing land off what is now City Road. [Au(abr)] |
