Abstract: |
Trial trenching at Ramsey, on the site of a proposed new school, located the late 18th to mid 19th century phase of Michaelstow Hall, a former manor with probable late Saxon or medieval origins. The robbed-out remnants of a brick-built cellar or basement, which may have been part of the main body of the house, were located, together with a brick built drain, and one or more phases of ancillary timber building. A well-to-do household was suggested by high quality pottery. [Au(abr)] |
