Abstract: |
<summary>A desk-based assessment of a proposed development site was carried out. The site lay 150m from the edge of a large Roman cemetery, and it was noted that there would be some potential for further burials outside the known limits. The site could have been occupied by gardens, orchards or tenements during the 16th-17th centuries. The proposed development was likely to remove up to 75% of the remaining depth of potential archaeological deposits on the site, and it was recommended that a watching brief be carried out to assess potential during the excavation of engineering trial-pits.
