Abstract: |
The proposed pipeline was thought to be near an area relating to a skirmish fought at Ackworth in 1492, known from local tradition and by place-name evidence as the "Burial Field". Although the pipeline was not supposed to directly cross this field, a complex of cropmarks may have indicated prehistoric activity such as field systems, enclosures or trackways. A precautionary watching brief was recommended. [Au(adp)] |
