Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment of 9ha of land proposed for redevelopment for housing and retail use, established that there was no cartographic evidence that the site had been quarried, thus establishing the potential for the survival of archaeology on the site. Some damage may have been caused by modern excavations for foundations and services. While a search of the GLSMR showed that there were no records of archaeological deposits, which might be expected to extend into the development area, immediately adjacent to the site, this could be due to lack of systematic survey in the area in the past. It was recommended that a field evaluation be carried out. [Au(adp)] |
