Abstract: |
A watching brief was held over the excavations for two stone piers and associated stone walling with railings, sited to restrict access through Deangate. None of the three cuttings was sufficiently deep to penetrate the modern overburden associated with the creation of Deangate (1902) and later road resurfacings. The earliest artefacts found were consistent with having originated from the Old Deanery garden/yard. The three cuttings did not add to the archaeological record for the area. [Au(abr)] |
