Abstract: |
The work comprised a single trench which contained a thick Bronze Age peat layer. The medieval period brought two phases of north-south ditches containing well preserved material and finds, including five turned wooden bowls and seventeen leather shoes. These ditches may relate to Bermondsey Abbey. Early post-medieval dump layers sealed the ditch and were cut by two phases of well. The earlier well was lined with two wooden barrels truncated by an 19th century brick lined well. An 18th century floor and wall were recorded.[Au(adp)] |
