Abstract:		 An evaluation was carried out at a proposed extraction and reclamation site where an earthwork bank, overlain at its eastern end by post-1845 ridge and furrow, had previously been recorded. It was possible that the bank had represented the boundary of a medieval deerpark, although it may have been a parish boundary. During the evaluation, several banks and ditches were revealed. One ditch contained late medieval pottery, whilst two had been deliberately backfilled at the end of the 18th century. The dimensions of the extant bank differed from those of known deeraprk boundaries, and the feature was found to have a ditch on both sides at the point where it was examined, rather than only on the inside, as would be more usual in a deerpark. It was concluded that the bank was more likely to have marked a parish boundary. It was recommended that no further archaeological work should be carried out prior to the granting of planning permission for the proposed development. [AIP]
