Abstract: |
Advice from English Heritage had indicated that the study area had a good archaeological potential in that it was adjacent to the designated Archaeological Priority Zone of 'Lundenwic and Thorney Island' and sites close by had produced significant material dating from the Saxon period. The assessment found that there would be a high potential for material from the Saxon period. The existing building basement was at a depth greater than that of the deepest features in the vicinity of the site. It was considered extremely unlikely that there would be any archaeological survival below the depth of the basement. The new development proposed to keep the basement floor level at its present height with only localised piling below this. It was therefore concluded that no further archaeological recording and observation work would be necessary. [Au(adp)] |
