Abstract: |
<summary>A preliminary borehole evaluation of the proposed development site suggested that the site overlay part of the medieval ditch on the south side of the castle. Subsequent trial excavation confirmed this. The work demonstrated that medieval deposits lay only 0.3m below present ground level, and it could therefore be assumed that the area had been lowered in the late 18th or 19th century. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea} |
