Abstract: |
17 test pits were dug during an evaluation in response to the flood alleviation scheme proposed by the National Rivers Authority. The scheme would involve the construction of floodwalls and/or floodbanks along the route of the River Allen. Most of the route is built up, although two extensive areas of open grassland would be affected. The test pits failed to identify any areas of high archaeological potential , but the clay and peat levels found may supply valuable environmental evidence. [Au(abr)] |
