Abstract: |
The earliest soil deposit found on the site was dated from c.12th to the late 15th century overlain by deposits containing pottery dating from c.1620-1700. A wooden cask was recovered and its precise date was uncertain. However, if the residue in the cask was gunpowder then it might have related to the events of 16th February 1646, when the adjacent church was blown up. Later activity on the site included the construction of a well (of uncertain date) and outbuildings related to the 19th century. [Au(adp)] |
