Abstract:		 An archaeological evaluation comprising earthwork survey and trial trenching was undertaken prior to development. Late Saxon to early medieval activity was represented by ditches, pits and a possible post-hole in two of the trenches excavated. A number of medieval/early post-medieval features were also identified. No archaeological features were observed in the remaining two trenches. A relatively level area in the southwest corner of the field may have represented a building platform. It was defined on its north and east sides by an earthwork feature, represented as a ditch in Trench 1, and appeared to be respected by the ridge and furrow which was only apparent to the east. However, none of the features identified in excavation within this area were clearly structural and the find assemblage was not suggestive of intensive occupation in the immediate vicinity. Ridge and furrow remains covered the eastern part of the field and features predating this were found in trench 3. [Au(abr)]
