Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken prior to the extension of a car park for the base post office. All of the trenches revealed disturbed soil and so three sondages were hand dug. This revealed the probable ground surface prior to the construction of the base, a layer of wind blown sand and an ancient buried soil layer, possibly dating to the Iron Age or Roman period. A small flint blade and animal teeth were also recovered. [Au(abr)] |
