Abstract: |
An evaluation, comprising a detailed earthwork survey and the excavation of five test-pits and three machine trenches, was undertaken on land proposed for a housing development. The archaeological features revealed were directly associated with the earthworks in the eastern area of the site, which comprised a 'platform' to the south, linked to an area of amorphous shallow positive earthworks to the north by a linear feature. Late prehistoric, later medieval, post-medieval and modern artefacts were recovered from the top soil in all five test pits. Late medieval and post-medieval finds were recovered from archaeological features associated with the linear earthwork. [Au] |
