Abstract: |
The excavation of geological test-pits was observed in order to establish the presence or absence of archaeological deposits at the proposed site of a residential development, which lay immediately to the north of a moated site which was a SAM. Nothing of archaeological significance was revealed. However, it was noted that the test-pits had accounted for less than 1% of the site area, and were therefore not necessarily a good indication of the possible extent of archaeological deposits.
