Abstract: |
Recent research had suggested that Westwick Cottage was a 12th century manor house with aisles. Further research, in the form of resistivity and ground penetrating radar surveys was undertaken with the aim of detecting evidence for ailses to the 12th century structure and for outbuildings around the cottage. A resistivity survey was also undertaken in a field opposite Westwick Barn, where research had indicated a Tithe Barn may have been situated. No evidence for ailses to the existing cottage structure were found however, anomalies found around Westwick Cottage may have been the remains of outbuildings to the conjectured manor house. The survey also revealed two possible locations for the Tithe barn towards the south-eastern end of Westwick Row. [Au(adp)] |
