Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a proposed development site within an Archaeological Priority Zone was undertaken. A large number of mesolithic flint tools associated with burnt material had been excavated immediately to the north, and Roman pottery had been found on the site itself. Settlement in the area had first been recorded in 975 AD, although no medieval remains had been found in the vicinity of the site. It was concluded that an archaeological evaluation should be carried out. [AIP] |
