Abstract: |
The assessment identified that palaeoland surfaces of Mesolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Age date may have been present below and within a peat unit present on the site. Archaeological investigations west of the site revealed a late 2nd and 3rd century Roman settlement, possibly a farmstead. Land surfaces of Iron Age and Roman date may have been present on the site along with traces of agricultural activity and drainage. The sites archaeological potential for the entire post-Roman period to 1916 was thought to be very low. Traces of agricultural activity and drainage channels were likely to be present. [AIP] |
