Abstract: |
An archaeological excavation was undertaken on the proposed area of a visitor centre. A number of features predating the 1756 Capability Brown 'master plan' were identified. A stone lined cess pit, the footings of the stable block and the footings of a previous structure and a cobbled surface were recorded. Features belonging to the 'master plan' including a cobbled surface and a drain within the stable block. [Au(abr)] |
