Abstract: |
An archaeological excavation was carried out on a site in advance of a development. The earliest features identified, dated to the 10th to mid 12th centuries, consisting of small ditches, pits and post holes relating to backyard activity. Activity was identified as increasing in the period 1150-1350 and a possible change in property alignments was identified in the form of pitting, including a large quarry or water hole. A stone lined drain was also identified. Late medieval stone buildings, a hearth and another stone line drain were recorded and a few post-medieval ditches and pits were also uncovered. [Au(abr)] |
