Abstract: |
On the basis of a geotechnical investigation it was demonstrated that the western two thirds of the site formerly lay within the channel of the River Rom. Palaeo and historic land surfaces and in situ archaeological deposits were unlikely to have been present on this part of the site. The survival of any archaeological deposits on the eastern third of the site was likely to have been seriously compromised by the construction of the existing cinema. It was unlikely that any archaeological deposits would have survived beneath the footprint of this building. [Au(abr)] |
